In this video, veteran turkey hunters Austin Musselman and Field Hudnall explain the critical components of a successful run-and-gun style turkey hunt. Austin and Field grew up chasing Longbeards in the hills of Kentucky. They give some tips on strategy, calling techniques, mental preparedness, setup, and much more. Most run and gun style turkey hunts are not fast-paced, quick hunts like many hunting videos portray. The pursuit of a single mature Eastern Gobbler can take hours, days, or even weeks. Hunting ridges and open hardwoods can be very challenging due to terrain, and a mature gobbler’s instinct to circle a ridge while investigating a hen. We hope this video helps some new turkey hunters avoid making mistakes that might cost them that bird of a lifetime.
